Fenugreek as a Versatile Cosmetic Ingredient: Phytochemical Profile, Skin–Hair Benefits and Formulation Opportunities

Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) is identified as a promising cosmetic ingredient due to its rich phytochemical profile, including polyphenols, flavonoids, and steroidal saponins, which offer antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial benefits. These properties make fenugreek suitable for skin and hair care, aiding in anti-aging, moisturizing, and promoting hair growth. A study involving 75 women showed that fenugreek seed extract creams significantly improved skin hydration and reduced wrinkle depth. Despite its potential, further research is needed for standardized extracts and clinical validation to fully integrate fenugreek into cosmetic products.
