Three-Dimensional Model of Normal Human Dermal Tissue Using Serial Tissue Sections

Peng Liu, Tao Zhang, Yihui Huang
TLDR A detailed 3D model of human skin was created to help develop artificial skin.
This study introduces a new method for creating high-resolution 3D models of human dermal tissue using serial tissue sections, which surpasses traditional methods in accuracy. By analyzing skin samples from normal adults, the research identified that dermal fibers are interwoven, forming pores with varying sizes and fibroblast content. The study quantified dermal porosity at 18.96% ± 4.41% and average pore diameter at 219.29 ± 34.27 μm, noting variations across skin layers. These findings are crucial for designing biomimetic tissue-engineered skin, which could improve wound healing and minimize scarring. The study also highlights the importance of precise image alignment, employing the SIFT algorithm to enhance data accuracy, thus providing a valuable dataset for future skin scaffold development.

The user has been on finasteride and minoxidil since 2020 and increased dutasteride and minoxidil doses in June 2024, but still experiences hair loss. Despite trying pyrilutamide without success, opinions vary on whether the hair loss is significant, with some suggesting it might be due to lighting, angles, or a regular shedding cycle.
