TLDR 5% dapsone gel is more effective than 1% clindamycin gel for treating acne.
This study involving 110 patients over 12 weeks found that 5% dapsone gel is significantly more effective than 1% clindamycin phosphate gel in treating mild to moderate acne vulgaris. Dapsone gel resulted in 78.2% of patients experiencing improvement, compared to 52.7% for clindamycin gel, with a p-value of 0.005. The study concluded that dapsone gel, with its dual anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties and a simplified once-daily regimen, is a preferable treatment option for acne vulgaris.
