Efficacy of 5% Minoxidil Versus Platelet Rich Plasma in Treatment of Alopecia Areata

The study compared the efficacy of 5% Minoxidil and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) in treating alopecia areata in 122 patients aged 18-40. Over 12 weeks, patients were divided into two groups, with one receiving Minoxidil and the other PRP. Results showed that PRP was significantly more effective, with 75.4% of patients showing improvement compared to 54.1% with Minoxidil. The difference in effectiveness was statistically significant, indicating that PRP is a more effective treatment for alopecia areata than Minoxidil.
