PD23-01 Inhibitor of 5α-Reductase Types II Promotes the Infiltration of CD8+ T Cells in BPH Tissues.

    The study investigated the effects of 5a-reductase type II inhibitors, specifically finasteride, on T cell infiltration in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) tissues. It was found that treatment with this inhibitor increased the infiltration of CD8+ T cells in BPH tissues, while CD4+ T cells remained unchanged. Prostate tissue lysates from patients treated with finasteride showed a greater ability to recruit CD8+ T cells from healthy individuals. In vitro studies demonstrated that BPH-1 cells, under androgen deprivation, recruited more CD8+ T cells by secreting more chemokine CCL5 and up-regulating CCR5. These findings suggested that altering androgen levels through 5a-reductase type II inhibition could affect inflammatory reactions in BPH tissues.
