TLDR Hibiscus rosa-sinensis has many health benefits but needs more research for full understanding.
Hibiscus rosa sinensis, commonly known as the China rose, is widely used in tropical regions for its medicinal properties, including treating hair loss, wounds, inflammation, and infections. The plant's therapeutic effects are attributed to its bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, tannins, terpenoids, saponins, and alkaloids. Recent studies highlight its diverse benefits, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-diabetic properties, with minimal toxicity observed in most extracts. However, some extracts affect hematological and biochemical markers, indicating the need for further research to understand the specific actions of its phytochemicals and to conduct clinical trials to explore its full therapeutic potential.
