TLDR Accurate diagnosis of AANS is crucial for effective treatment and hair regrowth.
Alopecic and Aseptic Nodules of the Scalp (AANS) is a rare condition that can be misdiagnosed due to its nonscarring alopecic nodules, pruritus, and erythema. A case study of a 17-year-old boy with a six-month history of hair loss and pruritus was accurately diagnosed with AANS through clinical, trichoscopic, imaging, and histopathological assessments. Treatment with doxycycline and intralesional corticosteroid injections led to significant improvement and hair regrowth. This case underscores the necessity of precise diagnosis to distinguish AANS from other scalp conditions.
