TLDR Combining laser treatment with steroid cream is more effective for alopecia areata than using the cream alone.
This study evaluated the effectiveness of combining fractional carbon dioxide laser with topical steroid clobetasol propionate 0.05% cream in treating alopecia areata. Involving 20 patients with 108 patches, the study compared two groups: one receiving both laser treatment and cream (Group A) and the other receiving only the cream (Group B). Over four sessions at two-week intervals, Group A showed significantly better treatment outcomes than Group B. The results suggest that fractional CO2 laser combined with clobetasol propionate cream is a more effective treatment for localized alopecia areata than the cream alone.
