Acetyl zingerone methyl ether (MAZ) has been identified as an effective haircare ingredient that protects hair from oxidative damage caused by permanent hair dyes and environmental stressors like sun exposure. In a 28-day clinical study, MAZ demonstrated superior antioxidant properties, reducing hydroxyl radicals and singlet oxygen more efficiently than α-tocopherol. When incorporated into hair dyes, MAZ did not interfere with color development or grey coverage and improved hair condition immediately after dyeing. Additionally, using MAZ-infused shampoo and conditioner over a 28-day period significantly preserved hair gloss and color quality, maintaining a fresh appearance compared to controls. This research supports MAZ as a valuable addition to haircare products for enhancing color longevity and overall hair health.
