Study on the Treatment of Advanced Lung Adenocarcinoma in the Elderly with Pemetrexed Combined with Platinum Drugs

TLDR Combining pemetrexed with platinum drugs improves treatment outcomes and quality of life for elderly patients with advanced lung adenocarcinoma.
The study investigated the treatment of advanced lung adenocarcinoma in 200 elderly patients using pemetrexed combined with platinum drugs. Patients were divided into two groups: one received only pemetrexed, while the other received pemetrexed with platinum drugs. The research group, which received the combination therapy, showed a significantly higher treatment effective rate of 85.00% compared to 60.00% in the control group. Additionally, the research group experienced fewer adverse reactions (22.00% vs. 45.00%) and reported a better quality of life. The study concluded that combining pemetrexed with platinum drugs provided better treatment outcomes for elderly patients with advanced lung adenocarcinoma.
