TLDR Natural hydrolates may improve burn healing and fight antibiotic resistance.
This literature review explores the complex challenges in burn wound healing, including inflammation, oxidative stress, and infection, which are exacerbated by rising antibiotic resistance. It highlights the limitations of conventional therapies and emphasizes the potential of natural hydrolates as innovative treatments due to their anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties. These botanical extracts may improve the healing environment and combat antibiotic resistance, offering a promising complementary approach to enhance burn care outcomes. The review identifies knowledge gaps and suggests directions for future research to optimize burn wound management.
