TLDR Proper periodontal treatment with xenograft effectively manages aggressive periodontitis in SLE patients.
This case report describes the successful treatment of aggressive periodontitis in a 24-year-old female with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) using bovine-derived xenograft over an 8-year follow-up. The patient showed significant improvements in hard and soft-tissue parameters after nonsurgical periodontal therapy and surgical intervention with Bio-Oss xenograft, with no complications. The study concludes that proper periodontal treatment combined with xenograft is effective for managing aggressive periodontitis in SLE patients, recommending its use based on the positive outcomes.
