TLDR JAK inhibitors show promise for treating Alopecia Areata, but more research is needed for better, accessible treatments.
Alopecia Areata is an autoimmune condition causing hair loss, with current treatments like immunosuppressants, corticosteroids, and JAK inhibitors showing variable efficacy. JAK inhibitors are promising but face safety and accessibility issues. Emerging therapies, such as stem cells and biological medicines, are promising but limited by cost and complexity. The review emphasizes the importance of a multidisciplinary approach, combining clinical treatment with emotional support, to improve patient quality of life. It calls for further research to refine existing therapies and explore new, effective, and accessible treatment options, considering the complex interplay of genetic and environmental factors in disease progression.
