TLDR Betamethasone oral mini-pulse therapy is safe and effective for treating extensive alopecia areata.
This study evaluated the efficacy of oral mini-pulse therapy with betamethasone in treating extensive alopecia areata in 16 adolescents and adults over a minimum of 6 months. The results showed that 43.7% of patients had an excellent response, while 31.2% had a good response. Two patients (12.5%) had an unsatisfactory response, and another two (12.5%) were non-responders. The therapy was found to be safe with minimal side effects, suggesting that oral mini-pulse therapy with betamethasone was an effective treatment for extensive alopecia areata.
