ALOPECIA UNIVERSALIS IN ULCERATIVE COLITIS

    This case report discusses a 30-year-old male with alopecia universalis and a three-year history of intermittent diarrhea with blood, diagnosed as ulcerative colitis through colonoscopy and biopsy. Despite treatment with mesalamine, steroids, and azathioprine, there was no hair regrowth. The report highlights that alopecia can be an extra-intestinal manifestation of inflammatory bowel disease, particularly ulcerative colitis, and emphasizes the importance for clinicians to recognize skin symptoms as potential indicators of IBD.
