TLDR The treatment improved facial structure and corrected bite issues in patients.
The study evaluated the effects of Rapid Maxillary Expansion (ERM) and Reverse Traction (TR) on patients with Class III malocclusion and maxillary retrusion. Conducted over 12 months with 16 young participants (10 girls and 6 boys), the research found significant changes, including increased anterior maxillary growth, limited anterior mandibular growth, and clockwise mandibular rotation. Maxillary incisors were significantly proclined, and mandibular incisors were retroclined. Clinically and cephalometrically, the treatment resulted in maxillary advancement, improved facial convexity, correction of anterior crossbite, and positive overbite and overjet. However, further studies are needed due to existing literature inconsistencies.
