TLDR CAL-PDT is safer and more effective for treating actinic keratosis on the scalp.
A five-month-old boy presented with a three-month history of anogenital and distal skin lesions, alopecia, and diarrhea. He was exclusively breastfed, and there was no relevant family history. Physical examination showed erythematous erosive plaques with scaling and crusting on the anogenital area and distal extremities, along with diffuse scalp alopecia. The boy's plasma zinc level was found to be 6.3 μmol/L, indicating a deficiency, which was likely the underlying cause of his symptoms.
