The study explores the antioxidant properties of hop extract (Humulus lupulus L.) and its application in cosmetic formulations, particularly for sensitive skin. The research found that emulsions containing 3.0 wt.% hop extract (DW01) demonstrated significant antioxidant activity and improved skin hydration, reducing erythema by 10% after three weeks in a study with 16 volunteers. The hop extract's bioactive compounds, including xanthohumol, showed moderate antioxidant activity, contributing to skin protection against oxidative stress and inflammation.
