This case study highlights the role of chronic malnutrition as a significant non-infectious contributor to ascites in a 2-month-old male domestic kitten. The kitten presented with symptoms including abdominal distension, alopecia, and poor body condition due to inadequate nutrition. Diagnostic tests ruled out Feline Infectious Peritonitis, and management focused on nutritional correction with a high energy, high protein diet, alongside supportive treatments. The kitten showed rapid clinical improvement, underscoring the importance of including nutritional assessment in the diagnostic approach for ascites in young rescued cats.
