TLDR Educational efforts are needed to improve safe and effective minoxidil use.
A cross-sectional study involving 300 adult participants assessed the awareness, knowledge, and usage of minoxidil, a treatment for androgenetic alopecia. The study found that 68% of participants were aware of minoxidil, but only 42% had adequate knowledge of its proper use. About 38% reported using minoxidil, mainly for hair loss, with common side effects including scalp irritation (26%), dryness (18%), and unwanted facial hair growth (9%). The study highlighted improper application and irregular use among users, concluding that educational interventions are needed to ensure safe and effective use of minoxidil.
