TLDR Pregnant women need better awareness and education on sun protection and safe cosmetic use.
This study evaluated the skincare and cosmetic use habits, sun protection awareness, and attitudes toward aesthetic procedures among 236 pregnant women aged 18 years and older, with a gestational age of at least 10 weeks. The findings revealed that while pregnant women continue to use skincare and cosmetic products, their awareness and practices regarding sun protection are insufficient. The most commonly purchased products were personal hygiene items, perfume, and skincare products, with moisturizers, night creams, and sunscreen being the most preferred skincare items. A significant but weak positive correlation was found between education levels and both sun protection and green cosmetic consumption behaviors. The study suggests that educational programs before and during pregnancy could improve pregnant women's knowledge and practices related to sun protection and safe cosmetic product use.
