TLDR A 9-year-old boy had a rare scalp condition usually seen in young men.
This brief report discusses a rare case of alopecic and aseptic nodules of the scalp (AANS) and dissecting cellulitis of the scalp (DCS) in a 9-year-old boy, which is atypical due to its prepubertal onset and involvement of facial skin. The boy had a 6-year history of chronically relapsing, sterile, partially scarring nodules. Histopathological analysis showed mixed inflammatory infiltrates, including neutrophils, macrophages, lymphocytes, and plasma cells, indicating suppurative, partly granulomatous dermatitis. This case expands the known spectrum of AANS and DCS, as facial involvement in such young patients has not been previously documented.
