TLDR Dermoscopy is crucial for diagnosing rare scalp tumors like trichofolliculoma.
This document presents a case study of a 56-year-old female with a trichofolliculoma, a rare benign adnexal tumor, on her scalp. The lesion, present for 15 years, was a painless, flesh-colored nodule with a tuft of hair. Dermoscopic examination revealed fine telangiectasias and yellowish scales. Histological analysis confirmed the diagnosis, showing a dilated hair follicle with keratin and hair shaft debris, surrounded by collagen fibrosis. The tumor was excised, and no recurrence was observed after 6 months. The study highlights the importance of dermoscopy in diagnosing atypical trichofolliculoma cases.
