TLDR FUE hair transplant effectively treats burn-related hair loss with natural results and quick recovery.
This study from Chengdu Hengmei Hair Medical Clinic assessed the effectiveness of autologous follicular unit extraction (FUE) for treating postburn cicatricial alopecia in 41 patients. The FUE technique was chosen for its minimal trauma and quick recovery, resulting in high satisfaction rates, with 31 patients very satisfied and 7 satisfied. Complications were minimal, with only 3 cases reporting issues. Despite challenges like scar tissue hardening, FUE is considered a viable option due to its minimally invasive nature. The study suggests combining FUE with treatments like PRP or fat grafting for better outcomes but notes limitations due to its single-center, retrospective design, and lack of a control group, highlighting the need for larger studies.
