Ayurvedic Approach to PCOS-A Critical Review

    The review explored Ayurvedic theories and practices related to Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a disorder characterized by menstrual irregularities, androgen excess, and specific ovarian features. The study examined the Charaka Samhita and other sources to understand PCOS from an Ayurvedic perspective. It concluded that PCOS was considered a Kapha Vata predominant tridoshaja vikara with agnimandhya as the main cause of its pathogenesis. The review suggested that PCOS could be effectively treated using tridosha pacifying and agnivardhak chikitsa with uttarvasti according to Ayurvedic principles.
