Effectiveness And Safety Of Baricitinib In Alopecia Areata: A Prospective Cohort Study

This prospective cohort study assessed the effectiveness and safety of Baricitinib in 48 adults with severe alopecia areata over 12 months. Results showed that 58.3% of patients achieved a clinically meaningful response, and 37.5% achieved a complete response. Significant improvements were noted in eyebrow and eyelash regrowth. Predictors of favorable response included lower baseline SALT scores, shorter disease duration, and higher basal ESR. No serious adverse events were reported, indicating Baricitinib is effective and safe for managing severe AA, especially when started early in patients with lower baseline severity and elevated ESR.
