TLDR Baricitinib effectively improves symptoms of atopic dermatitis and alopecia areata with few side effects.
Baricitinib has shown consistent effectiveness in improving symptoms of atopic dermatitis (AD) and alopecia areata (AA) in real-world settings, with positive patient-reported outcomes. While ineffectiveness and adverse events were the main reasons for discontinuation in AD, the rates of discontinuation due to adverse events were low. Patients with AD often had prior treatments with biologics and other therapies. For AA, data on treatment discontinuation and prior treatments were limited, but some studies noted the use of minoxidil alongside baricitinib. No new safety concerns or serious adverse events were identified for either condition, supporting the drug's effectiveness and tolerability as seen in clinical trials.
