TLDR The journal Anais Brasileiros de Dermatologia has grown significantly in influence and visibility over the past decade.
The bibliometric evaluation of Anais Brasileiros de Dermatologia (ABD) from 2013 to 2022 reveals significant growth in its influence and citation metrics, with a 16-fold increase in the Immediacy Index and substantial growth in total citations and influence scores. Despite a reduction in the 2022 Impact Factor, ABD's overall growth over the past decade was notable, with a 99% increase in IF compared to 58% for international dermatological journals. The journal's impact is further reflected in its low self-citation rate and strong internationalization, with many citations coming from foreign sources. The study suggests that ABD can enhance its visibility and impact by increasing publication frequency, adopting publication guidelines, and leveraging social media, although challenges remain due to the lower competitiveness of Brazilian research and limited resources in Latin America.
