Bicalutamide: A Potential New Oral Anti-Androgenic Drug for Female Pattern Hair Loss - A Case Series

This case series investigates the use of oral bicalutamide as an adjunct treatment for female pattern hair loss (FPHL) in 30 women who did not respond to low-dose oral minoxidil (LDOM) alone. Participants received bicalutamide at 50 mg twice weekly for one month, then 50 mg on alternate days, with regular biochemical monitoring. After six months, 63.3% of the women showed slight improvement, and 33.3% showed moderate improvement in hair growth, with no adverse effects reported. The study suggests that bicalutamide may be a promising treatment for FPHL, but larger studies are needed to confirm its long-term safety and efficacy.
