TLDR Combining hair transplantation with PRP is more effective for treating hair loss than hair transplantation alone.
This study investigated the effectiveness of combining hair transplantation with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections for treating androgenic alopecia in 147 patients. Of these, 72 received both hair transplantation and PRP, while 75 received only hair transplantation. Results showed that the treatment group had significantly smaller areas of hair loss, lower hair pulling test scores, and higher hair regeneration scores compared to the control group. The study concludes that the combination of hair transplantation with PRP is more effective than hair transplantation alone, suggesting promising potential for clinical applications in treating androgenic alopecia.

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.
