Ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) is highlighted as a sensitive and early marker for myocardial ischemia, offering potential advantages over cardiac troponin, which is limited in detecting ischemia. Despite extensive research, there are still significant gaps in understanding IMA's formation, detection, and clinical utility. This review compiles current literature on IMA, focusing on its structure, formation, and detection methods. It emphasizes the need for further research to develop novel or improved detection techniques, as current sophisticated methods are costly and require specialized equipment and personnel.
