TLDR The adhesive quickly stops bleeding and repairs wounds in wet conditions.
The study presents a biodegradable supramolecular tissue adhesive that achieves robust instant adhesion to wet tissue surfaces within 5 seconds, addressing the challenge of combining adhesive strength with biodegradability in dynamic, wet, or hemorrhagic environments. The adhesive's effectiveness is attributed to the synergy of surface-rich adhesive groups and a hydrophobic main chain, which overcomes the hydration layer on tissue surfaces. In vivo experiments using rat liver incision and skin injury models demonstrate its potential for emergency hemostasis and wound management, highlighting its significant potential in surgical applications and urgent clinical scenarios.
