TLDR Polygonum multiflorum root nanovesicles may help hair growth and treat hair loss.
This study explores the use of nanovesicles derived from Polygonum multiflorum roots (PM-NVs) to enhance hair growth. PM-NVs were effectively internalized by human dermal papilla cells (DPCs), leading to increased DPC proliferation and activation of the β-catenin signaling pathway, which is essential for hair follicle regeneration. Ex vivo experiments demonstrated that PM-NVs promoted hair follicle elongation, indicating their potential as a natural and biocompatible treatment for alopecia. The findings suggest that PM-NVs could be a promising option for hair follicle regeneration and hair growth stimulation.
