TLDR Lower levels of MYLK and CALD1 in bladder cancer and osteosarcoma are linked to worse survival rates.
This study investigates the role of myosin light chain kinase (MYLK) and caldesmon (CALD1) in bladder cancer and osteosarcoma using datasets from gene expression omnibus. The analysis identified 54 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and highlighted significant enrichment in pathways related to cellular differentiation, skeletal development, and cancer. MYLK and CALD1 were found to have lower expression in cancer samples compared to normal tissues, correlating with poorer survival rates. The study suggests that MYLK and CALD1 are involved in muscle contraction and smooth muscle function, and their reduced expression is linked to a worse prognosis in these cancers.
