This study explored the use of biomimetic cell-adhesive ligand-functionalized peptide composite hydrogels to influence the behavior of human amniotic mesenchymal stem cells (hAMSCs). The hydrogels were found to be non-cytotoxic and supported the survival, proliferation, and maintenance of stemness in hAMSCs. Additionally, the expression of pluripotent markers was upregulated, and under specific conditions, there was enhanced mineral deposition and increased mRNA expression of osteogenic genes. The study suggested that ligand-integrin interactions played a role in modulating the fate of hAMSCs within the composite hydrogels.
