TLDR Botulinum Toxin can improve hair growth in androgenetic alopecia, but more research is needed.
This meta-analysis evaluated 7 studies with 232 participants and found that Botulinum Toxin (BTX) significantly increased hair density and diameter in patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The optimal injection dose was 100 U, with reinjections every 6 months showing significant improvements, particularly in male participants. Despite high-quality evidence and consistent results, limitations included small sample sizes and high heterogeneity. The study suggests BTX as a promising treatment for AGA, but emphasizes the need for large-scale randomized controlled trials to establish standardized treatment protocols.
