TLDR Botulinum toxin use in dermatology is evolving, with new research trends emerging.
The study analyzes 1,877 documents from 2000 to 2023 on botulinum toxin (BTX) in dermatology, showing its growing interest and applications in treating conditions like wrinkles, muscle hypertrophy, acne, scarring, alopecia, and osmidrosis. The United States leads in publication volume, with Yonsei University as the most prolific institution. Despite diverse research fields, international collaboration is limited. Using CiteSpace, the study identifies key research areas and predicts future trends, emphasizing the importance of keyword centrality. BTX-A is noted for its effectiveness in muscle paralysis and wrinkle reduction, with safety concerns and adverse effects being significant research focuses. The study suggests expanding future research beyond its current database and keywords.
