    This study investigates the role of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) related to sex hormone metabolism in the development of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in rats. The research builds on previous findings that an increase in estrogen and a decrease in the androgen to estrogen ratio are high-risk factors for BPH. Aromatase inhibitors, like anastrozole, help maintain hormonal balance by inhibiting the conversion of androgens to estrogens. The study highlights the limitations of using 5α-reductase inhibitors, such as finasteride, alone and suggests that combined therapy with anastrozole may be more effective. The experiment aims to explore the pathogenesis of BPH further and assess the efficacy of this combined treatment approach.
