TLDR Partially bald areas in Indian AGA patients still have hair growth cells, suggesting early treatment is best.
This study on Indian patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) involved 10 male participants and examined the presence of hair follicle progenitor cells in partially bald areas. It found that while completely bald areas lack these cells, partially bald areas retain them, suggesting that progenitor cells diminish during the terminal stage of AGA. This indicates a potential window for therapeutic intervention, emphasizing the importance of targeting therapies to maintain stem and progenitor cells during early stages of hair loss. The study suggests that treatments for completely bald areas should focus on replenishing these cells, providing novel insights into AGA in the Indian population that may help optimize therapeutic approaches.
