Calcium And Magnesium Levels Of Hair Tissue And Insulin Sensitivity

    The study investigated the relationship between calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) levels in hair tissue and insulin sensitivity in 107 adult men. While individual levels of Ca and Mg in hair tissue did not show a significant correlation with insulin sensitivity, measured by the quantitative insulin sensitivity check index (QUICKI), the ratio of Ca to Mg did exhibit a significant inverse correlation with insulin sensitivity (r = -0.193, P = 0.049). This suggested that a higher Ca/Mg ratio in hair tissue was associated with decreased insulin sensitivity.
