TLDR Collagen with calcium and vitamin D improves bone health, skin elasticity, and reduces hair loss in menopausal women.
This randomized controlled study involving 80 menopausal women over 6 months assessed the effects of calcium and vitamin D supplementation, with and without collagen, on bone density, skin elasticity, and hair condition. The study found that while calcium and vitamin D alone did not significantly affect body composition or bone biomarkers, the addition of collagen improved bone health, particularly in women with low bone mineral density. Collagen supplementation also significantly enhanced skin hydration and elasticity, with the combination of collagen, vitamin D, and calcium showing the most improvement. Additionally, hair loss was significantly reduced in groups receiving all three supplements, suggesting potential benefits for skin and hair health in menopausal women.
