TLDR The CAM is a useful model for studying burn wounds and testing treatments.
This study investigates the use of the chicken chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) as an alternative model for burn wound research, addressing the limitations of conventional in vivo models. The researchers developed a reproducible and ethically favorable protocol to create standardized burn injuries on the CAM. Through macroscopic, morphometric, and histological analyses, the study demonstrates that the CAM is a viable pre-clinical platform for studying burn wound healing and screening potential therapeutic agents. This approach could advance the understanding of burn injury mechanisms and aid in developing effective treatments.
