Cepharanthine loaded nanoparticles coated with macrophage membranes for lung inflammation therapy

    The study developed cepharanthine-loaded nanoparticles coated with macrophage membranes (MM-CEP/NLCs) to treat acute lung injury (ALI) by targeting lung inflammation sites. This biomimetic approach utilized the natural targeting ability of macrophages, resulting in enhanced drug accumulation, sustained release, and improved biocompatibility. In vivo experiments in mice showed that MM-CEP/NLCs significantly reduced ALI severity by decreasing lung water content, histopathological damage, and inflammatory markers such as TNF-α and IL-6. The study concluded that MM-CEP/NLCs could be a promising treatment for lung inflammation due to their effective targeting and therapeutic efficacy.
