A Success Story of Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation Treated with Stereotactic Radiosurgery in Bangladesh

    This case report from Bangladesh details the successful treatment of a 25-year-old male with a cerebral arteriovenous malformation (AVM) using Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), marking the first published case of its kind in the country. The patient received a 23 Gy dose to the AVM, resulting in complete nidus obliteration by one year post-treatment, with no significant clinical symptoms. The only side effect was transient hair loss in the irradiated area, which resolved within six months. The study concludes that Linear Accelerator-based SRS is an excellent non-invasive treatment option for AVM, offering encouraging clinical outcomes for carefully selected patients, especially when surgery is not feasible or desired.
