TLDR The guideline helps diagnose and treat hidradenitis suppurativa early to improve patient outcomes.
Hidradenitis suppurativa was a chronic inflammatory disease affecting hair follicles, leading to painful lesions in intertriginous areas, significantly impacting patients' quality of life. The Chilean Society of Dermatology and Venereology developed a clinical guideline to aid in the early diagnosis and treatment of this condition. The guideline covered various aspects including the disease's definition, epidemiology, pathophysiology, risk factors, comorbidities, psycho-emotional impact, clinical presentation, and diagnostic methods. It also discussed classifications, ultrasonographic evaluation, and both medical and surgical treatment options. An algorithm for therapeutic approaches was proposed to improve patient outcomes.
