Chronic Tonsillitis: New Aspects of Pathogenesis

    TLDR Chronic tonsillitis is linked to NETosis activity, which may help tailor treatments and reduce tonsil removal surgeries.
    The study examined 66 patients aged 18 to 65 with chronic tonsillitis, focusing on the cellular activity and NETosis in leukocytes from palatine tonsils and peripheral blood. A direct correlation was found between chronic tonsillitis and NETosis activity, suggesting that these findings could help personalize treatment approaches, reduce unnecessary tonsillectomies, and minimize associated risks and complications.
