TLDR Combining cinnamon and inositol improves hormone and metabolism issues in women with PCOS.
This study investigated the effects of Cinnamomum zeylanicum (cinnamon) and inositol on metabolic and hormonal parameters in 28 overweight women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) over 12 weeks. Participants were divided into four groups, receiving either cinnamon, inositol, a combination of both, or a placebo. The combination treatment showed the most significant improvements, reducing luteinizing hormone (LH) by 10.4%, testosterone by 11.17%, fasting glucose by 14.37%, and ovarian ultrasound scores by 30.03%. Cinnamon alone improved follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and glycemic parameters, while inositol mainly improved LH, testosterone, and glucose levels. The study concludes that combined supplementation offers superior metabolic and endocrine benefits, indicating a synergistic approach for managing PCOS.
