    Fauzia Musbah
TLDR Salmon patches on the neck may relate to the severity and recurrence of alopecia areata.
This study examined the correlation between salmon patches (SP) on the nape of the neck and the recurrence and severity of alopecia areata (AA) in 24 patients at Tripoli Central Hospital and a private clinic. The majority of patients had recurrent AA ophiasis (AAO), with 91% being female, indicating a severe prognosis. Other types included AA Universalis, AA Totalis, and multiple patches AA. The study found that 45.8% of patients had large SPs, while 41.7% had small SPs. Hair regrowth was observed in some SP areas after treatment, but not in others, suggesting variability in treatment response.
