Factors Related to Collagen Gel Contraction in Hair Follicle Organotypic Culture

TLDR Collagen gel contraction in hair follicle culture is mainly influenced by the amounts of collagen, dermal papilla cells, and epithelium cells.
The study investigated the effects of rat tail collagen, hair follicle dermal papilla cells, and hair follicle epithelium cells on collagen gel contraction in organotypic culture. It was found that the concentration of these components significantly influenced collagen gel contraction (P<0.01). Specifically, collagen gel contraction was negatively related to the concentration of rat tail collagen, while it was positively related to the concentrations of dermal papilla cells and hair follicle epithelium cells. The study concluded that the key factors influencing collagen gel contraction were the concentrations of these components.
