Combination Therapy with Injectable Platelet Rich Fibrin and Polydioxanone Threads in Treatment of Male Pattern Baldness: A Novel Approach

The study explored a novel approach for treating male pattern baldness by combining injectable Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) and Polydioxanone (PDO) threads. PRF, a second-generation autologous biomaterial, was noted for its higher cell and growth factor content compared to conventional PRP, along with its cost-effectiveness and ease of preparation. PDO threads, traditionally used in cardiac surgeries and more recently in dermatology, were employed for their potential to stimulate neocollagenosis, fibroblast proliferation, and microcirculation. The combination therapy was applied to patients with Androgenetic alopecia and yielded encouraging results.
